EcoChic introduces VAN Markoviec, Fashion with a Green Soul
by Marianne Nouwens
VAN Markoviec is a fresh and stylish prêt-a-porter label made with a passion for eco luxury.
This new Polish-Dutch fashion label only uses the finest environmental materials for their contemporary eco-fashion line, produced according to Fair Trade principles.
Green Soul Materials
The materials Van Markoviec uses are truly organic cotton, beautiful eco silk and a very special mix of PET (recycled polyester) and hemp, delivering the high quality of their handmade clothing.
The label arose from the friendship between two Polish girls studying in the Netherlands. One studied at the Fashion Design Academy where as the other excelled in Environmental Studies.
After they graduated they combined their passion for ecology and fashion in their eco luxury collection. They are now owners of their fashion studio and atelier shop in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Their production takes place in Poland, where they sought their supply chain in the closest European area while supporting their fatherland, reducing CO2 emissions as much as possible.
SLOW Fashion Movement
Since the arise of VAN Markoviec in 2005 the label is inspired by the SLOW Fashion movement.
This originates from a belief in the world where the fashion industry follows the 7R-principles:
RESPECT : People’s right to decent working condition
REDUCE : unsustainable use of natural resources, emission of pollution and overproduction
REUSE, REMANUFACTURE, RECYCLE : its waste
RETHINK : Product Life Cycles
REDESIGN : ideas into new concepts
EcoChic Collection truly believes in the same principles as VAN Markoviec and love looking great, when chic combines with an enviro-edge and the catwalk spotlight glimmers in green.
