Business Fights Poverty Events 2010

The first public event of the 2010 DFID, Business Action for Africa, Harvard Kennedy School Event Series will explore how partnerships are helping businesses, donors, governments and other development organisations to build the capacity of poor producers to benefit from new inclusive business models and will examine the lessons being learned on the ground.
Business Fights Poverty are raising the important question of “How can the private sector and development organisations work better together to create more inclusive business opportunities for poor people?” through its latest series of events to be held in London, 23 March 2010 5.30pm (Registration from 5pm).
Developing a Shared Agenda in 2010
Partnerships between businesses, governments and development actors are already pioneering new and more inclusive business models that are helping to generate the growth crucial to poverty alleviation and the success of the MDGs. Building on this pioneering work must be a central part of the collective agenda for business and its development partners in the years ahead.
Speakers include: Mavis Owusu-Gyamfi, Head of Profession, Private Sector Development, DFID; Graham Baxter, Director, International Business Leaders Forum; Sophie Le Mouel, Director, Technoserve Europe; Simon Bishop, Head of Policy, Shell Foundation. The event will be chaired by Simon Maxwell, Research Fellow, ODI. The event is sponsored by Shell Foundation.
