Welcome Tara Scott-Our EcoChic Ethical Stylist
by Tara Scott
Remember the 2008 BBC show “Blood Sweat and T-Shirts”, the show that unravelled the “glamour” of fashion and brought us pictures of poverty-stricken men, women and children in India sewing clothes for less than a living wage? Well, EcoChic Magazine are pleased to announce that the lovely Tara Scott who starred in that very show and who has submerged herself in campaigning for ethical fashion ever since, is joining us as our ethical stylist. She will be updating us on trends, campaigns, eco-news and doing some interviews. We are so excited about this addition to the team - Welcome Tara!
Here are Tara’s latest ideas for EcoChic living….
ECOUTURE…
Eco-fashion Designer, Leanne Marshal (Project Runway US Season 5 winner) of ‘LeAnimal’ uses eco-friendly textiles and natural dyes in her work. I’ve fallen head over heals for this dress from her latest fall 09 collection. A girl can only dream… www.leanimal.com
WHAT I AM BUYING…
These lovely little faux-leopard skin ‘Priya’ pumps from vegan shoe and ethical fashion company Bougois Boheme are so cute!
Perfect with jeans or a dress, pumps are ideal for smart/casual. Mine are in the post and I just can’t wait to try them on!
TABLE-TALK…
I am absolutely loving the latest Bowl by Vinylux, and not being much of a coaster lady myself, I am surprised by how they have actually managed to make a table accessory that often screams uptight and conservative, rock ‘n’ roll!
ON MY WISH-LIST…
www.rebound-designs.com make amazing recycled handbags, out of charming old book covers! Nowhere else have I seen obvious recycling look so chic and quirky in a truly tasteful way. These guys are really doing something special!
WHAT I’M WATCHING…
Kids For Sale: Stacey Dooley Investigates, BBC3 Thursdays 9pm.
My friend Stacey, who came with me to India when we filmed Blood Sweat and T-Shirts has been darting all around the world like wonder-woman exposing all sorts of child labour. Look out for this weeks episode where she sets out to build a school on the Ivory Coast, she’s a hero!’
Remember this thursday BBC3 9pm.

CAMPAIGNS…
www.lovefashionhatesweatshops.org
